Founder & CEO of TDengine
Jianhui Tao, Founder & CEO of TDengine, primary author of the open source time-series database TDengine, and winner of the 2024 CCF Distinguished Engineer Award. After graduating from USTC in 1994, he studied in the US and worked in mobile internet R&D at Motorola, 3Com, and other companies in Chicago. He returned to Beijing in 2008 and founded "Hexin" and "Happy Mommy". In May 2017, he founded TDengine, focusing on AI-driven IoT and industrial big data platform R&D. Since open-sourcing in July 2019, TDengine TSDB has repeatedly ranked #1 on GitHub trends. In July 2025, TDengine IDMP—an AI-native industrial data management platform—was released, introducing the concept of "Zero-Query Intelligence", letting data speak for itself. TDengine has received nearly $70 million in investment from Sequoia, GGV, Matrix Partners, and Mingshi Capital.
